Goldman Sachs and Arc — a testnet trial, not a validator seat
Goldman Sachs is not an Arc founding validator. It signed up to trial Arc's testnet in Oct 2025. Here's what's confirmed as of 2 Sep 2026, and what isn't.
Correction first: Goldman Sachs is not among Arc's 11 named founding validators (Circle, 5 August 2026). What is confirmed: Goldman Sachs signed up to trial Arc's technology at the network's public testnet launch on 28 October 2025, alongside BlackRock, Apollo Global Management, Anthropic, and ICE, per Bloomberg's reporting the same day — and Circle's own testnet-launch press release quotes a Goldman Sachs representative describing the trial as testing "how programmable settlement and interoperable FX workflows can enhance regulated markets." No update since has moved Goldman Sachs into the founding-validator cohort or disclosed further Arc-specific results.

What's confirmed, and from where
Two independent sources corroborate the same event: Circle's own 28 October 2025 press release names Goldman Sachs among the banks and asset managers "engaging with" Arc's newly launched public testnet, with the quoted statement above about programmable settlement and FX workflows. Bloomberg's same-day reporting frames it more plainly as a trial signup: "Goldman Sachs Group Inc, BlackRock, Apollo Global Management Inc, Anthropic PBC and Intercontinental Exchange Inc signing up to trial the technology." Both a primary Circle source and independent press corroboration exist for this — which is stronger sourcing than several entries in this cluster, even though the substance of the relationship (a trial signup, not a validator role) is thin.
Why the correction matters
Goldman Sachs is a large enough name that it gets pulled into "who's building on Arc" content regardless of whether the underlying claim is a testnet trial from October 2025 or the more consequential founding-validator status Circle announced roughly ten months later, in August 2026. It is not the latter. The 11 founding validators — BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa — do not include Goldman Sachs, and Circle's August 2026 release does not mention Goldman Sachs at all.
Goldman's other digital-asset infrastructure — for context, not conflation
Separate from Arc entirely, Goldman Sachs operates its own private tokenization platform, GS DAP, built on the Daml smart-contract language, which the bank has used for digital-asset issuance and, more recently, a tokenized real-estate fund built with Apex and Archax (reported June 2026), plus a tokenized money-market-fund solution launched jointly with BNY. None of this runs on Arc, and none of it should be read as Arc-adjacent activity — it's included here only to show that Goldman Sachs has an active, independent digital-asset strategy that exists whether or not its Arc testnet trial ever develops further.
What it does not mean
It does not mean Goldman Sachs is validating Arc transactions, has committed capital to Arc, or has disclosed any results from its October 2025 testnet trial. It does not mean Goldman Sachs will or won't join the validator cohort at some later date — nothing in the public record addresses that either way. And it does not mean Goldman's broader tokenization ambitions, which are real and substantial via GS DAP, are being redirected toward Arc.

Questions
Is Goldman Sachs an Arc founding validator?
No. Goldman Sachs is absent from Circle's 5 August 2026 list of 11 founding validators.
What did Goldman Sachs actually say about Arc?
At the 28 October 2025 testnet launch, a Goldman Sachs representative said the company was testing "how programmable settlement and interoperable FX workflows can enhance regulated markets" — an exploratory, trial-stage statement.
Did anyone else report on Goldman Sachs and Arc?
Yes — Bloomberg reported the same day that Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Apollo Global Management, Anthropic, and ICE were "signing up to trial the technology."
Is GS DAP related to Arc?
No. GS DAP is Goldman Sachs's own tokenization platform, built independently of Circle and Arc.
Could Goldman Sachs join Arc's validator set later?
Possibly, but unconfirmed — nothing in the public record as of 2 September 2026 indicates this either way.
